Description
Betaloc Zok is a medication that contains the active ingredient metoprolol succinate. It belongs to a class of drugs known as beta-1-adrenergic receptor blockers. Here are some key details about Betaloc Zok:
Uses: Betaloc Zok is used to treat high blood pressure, heart and chest pain caused by stress or physical exercise on patients with ischemia or coronary heart disease (stenocardia). It’s also used to treat myocardial infarction and prevent further infarctions (maintenance therapy after myocardial infarction). Additionally, it’s used to prevent migraines.
How it works: Metoprolol succinate reduces the effect of stress hormones on the beta-1-adrenergic receptors in the heart, kidneys, and brain. This means that the usual increase in heart rate, cardiac output, cardiac contractility, and blood pressure, produced by the acute increase in catecholamines, is reduced by Betaloc Zok.
How to take: The usual adult dose is one tablet taken once daily at approximately the same time each day.
Side Effects: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
