Description
Bactigen Eye/Ear Drops is an antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and the skin around the eyes, such as blepharitis and conjunctivitis. It is also used to prevent infection after eye injury or surgery. The active ingredient in Bactigen is Gentamicin, which belongs to a class of drugs known as aminoglycoside antibiotics.
Gentamicin works by killing the bacteria causing the infection. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your doctor may direct you to use this medication more often at first, then use it less frequently as the infection improves.
Common side effects of Bactigen include red, irritated, itchy or teary eyes, blurred vision, eye pain, eye discharge, swollen eyelids, and headache. If any of these effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Please note that Bactigen should not be used if you are allergic to Gentamicin or any other ingredients present in Bactigen Eye/Ear Drop. Also, it should not be used during pregnancy.
