Description
Permethrin Cream is used to treat scabies, a condition caused by tiny insects called mites that infest and irritate your skin. Permethrin belongs to a class of drugs known as pyrethrins, which work by paralyzing and killing the mites and their eggs.
Dosage/Direction: Apply Permethrin Cream as soon as possible after it is prescribed. Apply the cream from your head to the soles of your feet, including under your nails and in skin folds such as between the toes. Massage the cream into the skin. Leave it on for 8-14 hours, then wash it off by showering or taking a bath. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If the cream gets into your eyes, flush them with plenty of water.
Side Effects: Common side effects include skin irritation, itching, swelling, and redness, which may temporarily worsen after treatment. Mild burning or stinging may also occur. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing may occur. Discontinue use and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe reactions.
