Apalutamide is an androgen receptor inhibitor that blocks the effect of androgens on the tumor. Specifically, apalutamide binds to the ligand-binding domain of the androgen receptor, blocks androgen-receptor nuclear translocation, inhibits DNA binding, and obstructs androgen receptor–mediated transcription.
