Rifaxa 550mg Tablets contain Rifaximin, an antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for travelers’ diarrhea caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli), irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D), and to prevent hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver disease. Rifaximin works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the intestines, thereby reducing symptoms and preventing complications.
Dosage/Directions: Take Rifaxa 550mg Tablets as prescribed by your doctor. For travelers’ diarrhea, the typical dosage is one tablet taken three times daily for three days. For IBS-D, the dosage is one tablet taken three times daily for 14 days. For hepatic encephalopathy, the dosage is one tablet taken twice daily. It can be taken with or without food. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and complete the full course of treatment.
Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, and swelling in the hands or feet. Serious side effects may include severe stomach pain, watery or bloody diarrhea, and signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
