Description
Neurontin capsules contain gabapentin, which is used to treat partial seizures, nerve pain from shingles, and restless leg syndrome. Gabapentin belongs to a group of medicines called anticonvulsants, which work on the chemical messengers in your brain and nerves.
Neurontin is used in adults to treat neuropathic pain (nerve pain) caused by herpes virus or shingles (herpes zoster). It is also used to treat seizures in adults and children who are at least 3 years old.
Please note that Neurontin can cause life-threatening breathing problems, especially if you already have a breathing disorder or if you use other medicines that can make you drowsy or slow your breathing. Some people have thoughts about suicide while taking this medicine. Stay alert to changes in your mood or symptoms. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor.
