Description
Myprodol Capsules are a type of medication that contains three active ingredients:
- Codeine Phosphate (10 mg): An opioid analgesic which acts to relieve pain.
- Ibuprofen (200 mg): A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps reduce inflammation and pain.
- Paracetamol (250 mg): An analgesic and antipyretic agent used for controlling both pain and fever.
Here are some key points about it:
Uses: Myprodol Capsules are used for the relief of mild to moderate pain of inflammatory origin with or without fever. They are used for back pain, headaches, menstruation pain, toothache, earache, soft tissue injuries, joint pain, flu, and fever.
How it works: Codeine is broken down by the liver into morphine which provides pain relief. Ibuprofen works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in mediating inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling. Paracetamol works by blocking the activity of a chemical in the brain that causes pain.
Precautions: Overdoses of Paracetamol can cause severe liver and kidney damage. Ibuprofen should also be used with caution in patients with certain conditions, such as low thyroid function, Addison’s disease, liver damage, enlarged prostate, or shock.
