Description
Description: Glucomet XR 1000mg Tablets contain metformin hydrochloride in an extended-release formulation designed to provide a gradual release of medication over time. This helps to control blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes by reducing liver glucose production, increasing insulin sensitivity, and enhancing glucose uptake by muscles. The extended-release formulation minimizes fluctuations in blood glucose levels and reduces the risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
Dosage/Directions: The typical starting dose is 1000mg once daily with the evening meal. Depending on your blood glucose response, the dose may be gradually increased by your healthcare provider, with a maximum daily dose of 2000mg. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and do not crush or chew the tablets.
Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Rare but serious side effects include lactic acidosis and vitamin B12 deficiency. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience severe side effects or symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as unusual muscle pain or difficulty breathing.
