Description
Amantadine 100mg Capsules are used to treat Parkinson’s disease, drug-induced movement disorders, and to prevent or treat influenza A. This antiviral and dopaminergic medication works by blocking the actions of viruses and increasing dopamine effects in the brain.
The usual dosage for Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders is 100 mg twice daily. For influenza A, the dosage is typically 100 mg once or twice daily, depending on the patient’s condition and response.
Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, insomnia, nausea, and dry mouth. Serious side effects may include mood changes, hallucinations, swelling of the ankles or feet, and difficulty urinating. Patients with kidney disease, heart problems, or a history of mental health issues should use this medication with caution. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their healthcare provider before using amantadine. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not to stop the medication abruptly.
