Description
Zineryt Lotion is a topical antibiotic solution used to treat acne. Here are some key points about it:
Active Ingredients: It contains the antibiotic erythromycin and zinc acetate.
How it works: The erythromycin in Zineryt works by attacking the bacteria associated with acne, Propionibacterium acnes. This common type of bacteria feeds on the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. It produces waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, making them inflamed and causing spots. By controlling bacterial numbers, erythromycin brings the inflammation of the sebaceous glands under control, and allows the skin to heal. Zinc preparations have traditionally been used for their skin healing properties. The zinc acetate in Zineryt combines with the erythromycin to form a chemical complex that is efficiently absorbed into the skin.
Uses: Zineryt is used to treat acne (spots). You can use Zineryt on your face, back or chest.
Application: Zineryt should be applied twice a day over the whole area where you get acne.
Side Effects: Side effects from Zineryt are rare, but may include skin itching, redness or dryness.
Precautions: Zineryt can be used by most people, including children, adults and pregnant women. It’s not suitable for people with an allergy to macrolide-type antibiotics, eg azithromycin, clarithromycin.
