Description
Colchicine B.P 500mcg Tablets contain colchicine, an anti-gout agent used to treat and prevent gout attacks and familial Mediterranean fever. Colchicine works by reducing inflammation and decreasing the build-up of uric acid crystals that cause pain in the affected joints.
Dosage/Directions
For acute gout attacks, take 1 tablet (500mcg) at the first sign of an attack, followed by another tablet (500mcg) one hour later. Do not exceed 1.5mg (3 tablets) in one day. For prevention, the typical dose is 1 tablet (500mcg) once or twice daily as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water, with or without food.
Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Serious side effects may include severe diarrhea, muscle pain or weakness, numbness or tingling in fingers or toes, and unusual bleeding or bruising. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe side effects.
