Description
Klacid Syrup 125mg/5ml 50ml is an antibiotic syrup containing Clarithromycin, used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is effective against respiratory infections, skin infections, and some types of stomach infections caused by bacteria. Clarithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth. The typical dosage for children is 7.5 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into two or three doses. For example, for a 10 kg child, the daily dose would be 15 ml, divided into 5 ml three times daily. Dosage should be adjusted based on the child’s weight and medical advice.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Less common side effects may include dizziness and allergic reactions. If severe side effects occur or symptoms persist, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
