Description
Logimax is a medication that contains two active substances: metoprolol and felodipine. Here are some key details about Logimax:
Uses: Logimax is used in the management of hypertension and angina pectoris. It’s also used as an adjunct to the treatment of hyperthyroidism. Early intervention with Metoprolol in acute myocardial infarction reduces infarct size and the incidence of ventricular fibrillation. It’s also used in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, especially supraventricular tachyarrhythmias.
How it works: Metoprolol is a beta-1-adrenergic receptor inhibitor specific to cardiac cells with negligible effect on beta-2 receptors. This inhibition decreases cardiac output by producing negative chronotropic and inotropic effects. Felodipine lowers blood pressure by relaxing the tense muscle cells of the small blood vessels (arteries) and dilating the blood vessels so that the blood can pass more easily.
The recommended dosage for Logimax is as follows:
- Initially, take 1 tablet once daily in the morning.
- The dosage may be increased to twice daily if required.
- The tablets should be swallowed whole and can be taken with or without food.
Please note that the dosage may vary depending on the individual’s condition and response to the medication. Therefore, it’s important to follow the instructions given by your healthcare provider. Always consult with a healthcare practitioner before starting any new medication.
