Description
Septrin Syrup 100ml is an antibiotic containing sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It is used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and ear infections. This combination works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, thereby reducing the infection.
Dosage/Direction
- Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml every 12 hours.
- Children (6-12 years): 5 ml every 12 hours.
- Children (6 months-5 years): 2.5 ml every 12 hours.
- Infants (2-6 months): 1.25 ml every 12 hours.
- Infants under 2 months: Not recommended.
Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, rash, and diarrhea. Serious side effects may include allergic reactions, blood disorders, and liver or kidney issues. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver or kidney problems, and those allergic to sulfonamides or trimethoprim.
