Tobradex Eye Ointment

Tobradex Eye Ointment is a combination medication containing tobramycin (an antibiotic) and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid). It is used to treat bacterial infections and inflammation in the eyes.

Dosage/Direction: Apply a small amount (about 1/2 inch or 1.3 cm) of the ointment into the affected eye(s) 3-4 times daily. To apply, wash your hands first, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and squeeze the tube gently to release the ointment into the pocket. Close your eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to spread the medication. Avoid touching the tube tip to any surface to prevent contamination.

Side Effects: Common side effects include temporary blurred vision, eye redness, eye discomfort, and eyelid itching or swelling. Serious side effects may include increased intraocular pressure, cataract formation, secondary infections, and allergic reactions. If you experience any severe or persistent symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
