Description
Zestoretic 20mg is a medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active ingredients: lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide.
- Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that works by relaxing your blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily.
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) that helps your body get rid of extra salt and water.
This combination of drugs is used when one drug is not controlling your blood pressure. The usual starting dose for Zestoretic is 10 mg/12.5 mg (lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide) taken orally once daily. Your healthcare provider will adjust your dose based on how well it’s helping your blood pressure and if you’re having side effects.
Please note that Zestoretic should not be used if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor right away. You should also not use Zestoretic if you have ever had angioedema, if you are unable to urinate, or if you are allergic to sulfa drugs or to any ACE inhibitor.
As with any medication, Zestoretic can cause side effects. Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, or headache. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember, it’s important to take this medication as directed by your healthcare provider. If you have any questions or concerns about Zestoretic, please consult with your healthcare provider.
